Yamauchi says he often likes to tee off in the morning so he can get his round over with and get on with his day.
On Saturday morning, the former Waiakea and UH-Hilo standout went out at Mauna Lani and gave himself a round he could smile about for a while, carding a 67 en route to repeating as champion at the Big Island Amateur. It was his third title at the tournament overall.
Yamauchi is also a repeat winner in this space. Perhaps he can make it threepeat next season – as a pro or amateur.
